The big history of small Car

In 1966 volume of the engine 1,3 litres were equal already, and power made 50 "horses". On a luggage compartment figures "1300" reminding of the new engine flaunted. In 1967 manufacturers have increased volume of the engine to 1,5 litres, and power - to 53 h.p. Then there was the most appreciable change in appearance of the car - head lights have increased. Side panels too became more not to lose proportionality. Then throughout many years appearance of the car did not vary.

In 1969 victorious procession of "Bug" was saddened by occurrence of worthy competitors. Toyota Corolla and Datsun 510, too quite compact cars, began to attack heels. Besides, struggle for ecology very soon will begin, and on harmful blowouts in atmosphere "Bug" will receive weight of censures.

In 1970 the engine has been again increased. Now its volume made already 1,6 litres, power - 57 h.p. In 1971 the suspender has been changed - there were MakFersons racks. A car Wheelbase have extended, and power of the 1,6-litre engine made already 60 h.p. The new model has received name Super Beetle.

In 1975 engine Beetle it is equipped with electronic injection of fuel, and within several next years the car is issued without special changes. Factories in Australia, Portugal, Yugoslavia, Southern Africa, Venezuela, Philippines, Uruguay and Peru have been opened.

In 1978 in Germany last "Bug" prepares. Since this moment its manufacture "is expelled" from Europe. In 1980 manufacture Beetle "lands" in Mexico where in 1981 from the factory conveyor the 20-thousand car has gone. It have placed in a museum in Wolfsburg where initially there was factory Volkswagen.

In 1985 Europe has at all refused import Beetle, and Mexico remained a unique place of assembly of "Bug", and also a unique place where it continued to be popular. Especially convenient it was considered by taxi drivers. White and green motor cabs Beetle were practically a symbol of Mexico City. Moreover, it was also the most accessible car in Mexico. In 1990 the million copy has been exhausted, and in 1992 quantity assembled Beetle has reached 21 million. But also in this "reserve" of "Bug" "have slammed" the decision of the mayoralty of a city of Mexico City on which all motor cabs should become 4-door.
